# What Supervised Visitation Is (and Isn’t)

Supervised visitation lets a child and parent spend time together while a trained observer keeps the child safe. It is not a verdict on a parent, and it is not meant to last forever.

In therapeutic supervised visitation, a licensed clinician goes further: coaching the parent in real time and documenting what they observe so courts can see progress clearly.
